To be effective, planners need tools and strategies to help them engage with arts and culture in their work. Urban planners have immense influence in shaping the built environment and public life through policy and planning in ways that create vibrant and healthy places and communities. Arts and culture enriches lives by providing opportunities for people from different walks of life to socialize, learn, and play providing experiences that help people engage with the past, present, and future and creating unique, exciting opportunities to understand and interact with the built and natural environment and the places where people live, work, study, and play. Preview the Activity Toolkit Inventory and Instruction Sheet Activities are ideal for groups of 2-10 children per toolkit. Kits are designed for children grades 3-5 with adult guidance. Please note that we will charge fees for lost or damaged items as well as for unreturned toolkits. There is no fee to borrow the toolkit(s). We have two identical toolkits available for borrowing on a two-week loan period. The toolkits are ideal for parties, after-school activities (such as Girl or Boy Scouts), or for families. Activities utilize primary source materials from the Wellesley Historical Society Archives and secondary source materials. The Society designed the toolkits to provide a glimpse into life as a child in Wellesley during the 1880s as well as to examine similarities and differences between life then and now. Guided educational activity toolkits are now available to borrow via the Society!
